A few things can help prevent your tub from freezing. 1. When a large winter storm is expected set your water temperature to the hottest setting and cover the tub with a tarp. This can help keep your tub from freezing for days to a week without power. 2. A Ceramic heater and/or Caged Shop Light placed carefully in the equipment bay can keep your tub from freezing. - A 60 or 75 watt halogen bulb would be recommended in a caged shop light for heat. - Do not use higher wattage bulbs or heat bulbs. They can melt aspects of your tub. -Do not place any heater too close to plumbing, components or anything else that may melt and create further damage. 3. A submersible pump can be placed in the water of the tub alone and then plugged in. This will keep water moving and not freezing. The submersible pump will also create ambient heat in the water slowly.
